Dumpster Sizes

You may be thinking or not know which dumpster size is right for your project, but we are here to help you make the choice regarding your dumpster rental size needed. We summarize each size with common types of projects they have been used for in the past. 10 Yard Container

10 Yard dumpsterThe 10 yard is the smallest dumpster size we deliver. Typical dimensions are 12 feet long x 8 feet wide x 4 feet high. It is best used for the smallest types of projects usually rented out by residential homeowners who are cleaning out a house, garage, basement or shed. Here are the most common types of projects used for this size bin:

  • Small kitchen, garage, and shed clean outs
  • Small kitchen, bathroom remodels
  • Sod tear outs
  • 200-300 square foot deck removal

20 Yard Container

20 Yard Dumpster

The 20 yard is the most common size rented out apart from the 30 yard. It’s big enough for typical construction projects and is the dumpster of choice for contractors because of it’s smaller size allowing it to fit in more tight spaces during projects. Common dimensions are 23 feet long x 8 feet wide x 4 feet high. Here are common projects used for the 20 yard container:

  • Medium to large basement, attic, garage and basement clean outs
  • Flooring and carpet removal for medium to large size houses
  • 300-400 square foot deck removal
  • 2,500-3,000 single layer shingle removal
  • Siding and window replacement for small to medium size houses

30 Yard Container

The 30 yard is the other most commonly rented out size besides the 20 yard. Its typical dimensions are 23 feet long x 8 feet wide x 6 feet high. It can hold roughly 10-12 pick up truck loads to give you an idea and it can hold a 4 ton weight limit. It is used for the bigger construction and larger home renovation projects. Here are some common uses for this size:

  • Major home additions
  • Building a new home
  • Remodel  or gutting of a commercial building
  • Large landscaping projects

40 Yard Container

40 Yard Dumpster

The 40 yard is the biggest size that we deliver and rent out. This bin is used for any major construction, home, clean out, and demolition projects. The 40 yard is typically rented out for a longer period of time, for example, it can be rented out for the entire home construction project until it is complete. Typical dimensions are 23 feet long x 8 feet wide x 8 feet high. Typical projects that are used for this size are:

  • Complete home construction
  • Major additions for large homes and commercial buildings
  • Commercial roof tear-offs of 2,500 square feet or more
  • Complete window and siding replacement for a commercial building or large home
